Gelato - Building the world's largest production platform from Norway

The experience of running millions of micro-orders and expanding its network of global print partners to reach its fast-growing global customer base became the foundation for what Gelato is today, on a mission to empower ecommerce and the creator economy to reach any customer overnight with any customized product. Through its network of more than 100 production partners in 33 countries, ecommerce sellers can already reach 5 billion consumers worldwide within 72 hours.

Gelato’s mission is to empower global ecommerce and the creator economy to serve any customer overnight with any customized product.

Without owning any physical assets, the company has built a platform that enables ecommerce entrepreneurs and creators to produce and deliver custom products such as clothing, wall art, and books to customers anywhere through a network of more than 100 local production partners in 32 countries including Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Because the products are made on-demand and closer to where they are delivered, shipping is faster and waste and carbon emissions are reduced, while also removing the seller’s need to manage inventory or cross-border shipping. Gelato’s goal is to produce 90% of all orders locally, in the same country as where they are delivered, and reduce transportation distances by 90%. Faster, smarter, greener.

Between co-founding and rejoining Gelato 2 years ago, Pål spent 6 years at Innovation Norway. This includes 3 years as Director of Entrepreneurship and Startups where he was responsible for many of the Government programs to improve entrepreneurship in Norway.  Pål is a unique breed of an entrepreneur joining the government and returning to entrepreneurship.

Pål has an M.Sc. in Engineering from Toulouse, France.
