Christina Sulebakk has been named one of the 20 most powerful women in global entertainment by The Hollywood Reporter
She assumed leadership of the Benelux and GSA markets in 2026, extending the remit she has held for the Nordic region since 2022. Her responsibilities cover the regional networks and streaming portfolio, commercial operations, and the performance of HBO Max across these markets.
Prior to her expanded role, Sulebakk was appointed to lead the Nordics in 2022 as Discovery and WarnerMedia joined together to form Warner Bros. Discovery. She was responsible for WBD’s Nordic operations including the 14 local networks and led the launch of Max, WBD’s streaming service, which was rebranded back to HBO Max in 2025.
Before joining WBD, Sulebakk served as General Manager of HBO Max EMEA, where she was responsible for HBO’s European streaming services (HBO Nordic, HBO España, HBO Portugal and HBO GO in Central Eastern Europe) and for the launch of HBO Max in 21 markets across Europe in 2021, followed by further expansions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In 2012, as EVP Marketing & Sales Officer for HBO Nordic, Christina successfully established HBO’s first streaming service outside of the United States. In 2015 she was promoted to EVP, CMO & Head of Distribution for HBO Europe, and in July 2020 she was appointed General Manager for HBO Europe.
During her time at HBO Europe, she played pivotal roles in transforming the Central European business into streaming, launching HBO España (2016), HBO Portugal (2019), HBO Max in the Netherlands (2021) and contributing to the go‑to‑market strategy for HBO Max in Latin America.
